One of the things that I love about the place I live is that I am able to learn from other artists. I met with my art club today and we enjoyed the afternoon together learning from an artist that lives about two blocks from me, Donna Marie. She taught us how to put a light wash onto our pencil drawings and then continue to build light layers to build depth and warmth into our paintings. We worked in Acrylic today and I did a picture of sunflowers. I need to do some more work on it. This is just a practice painting it is no masterpiece but I am really happy with how it is looking so far. It was nice when our instructor came over to where I was working and asked if she could hold up my painting to show the class, she thought it was really good and I had just started it. I am going to do three new peices to put into the Art show that is coming to Lacombe in April. My friend Sonja Z is the feature artist at the show this year, she lives close by as well. Tomorrow night I am looking forward to the first of three water color classes with Susan Woolgar. There are art classes running all the time around here and they are not too expensive and so much fun. It is good for your health to spend time doing something artistic. What ever you like to do just do it.
I feel good about making a nice supper for my family tonight and inviting some good friends over to share it with us I feel good about the fact that we had a fun time together tonight in family home evening. Singing (that was a little off key) playing the whisper in your ear game (telephone I think it is called) and we topped it off with a really yummy dessert that my teenagers whipped up, lemon meringue tarts. Life just can't get much better than this. God is good to us and I know he loves me. Shelley Wees
